Epinions Classic ELF Design - Decent Pictures

by  northern_oak,  Jan 20, 2008
Pros: Size; Shape; Weight; Style; Optical Viewfinder; Good Screen; Custom White Balance.
Cons: Redeye in flash pictures; Flash weak; Lag after flash; Needs a more grippable right front.
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent pocketable sub-compact for those wanting good quality pictures in a stylish package
Review: I bought the Canon SD1000 (also known as the Ixus 70) because 1)I wanted something that would fit in my shirt pocket or equivalent and which I would always carry, 2)it got good to excellent reviews from experts, and 3)I have two A-series Canons that have ...

Epinions Canon has me as a customer for life! Replaced A520 with this and LOVE it!

by  h1bah1ba,  May 31, 2008
Pros: Size, picture quality, large screen, types/number of settings
Cons: Red eye reduction feature lacking, significant shutter lag in flash mode
The Bottom Line: Definitely recommend this camera! The picture quality alone is worth it.
Review: After a few years, it was time to replace my favorite digital camera (Canon A520). After much research, I decided to buy the SD1000. I found an amazing deal at Amazon.com, and within a few days it was here. This camera had a lot to live up to. I ...

Epinions It is an amazing digital camera -- cannon powershot sd1000

by  barble1978,  May 3, 2008
Pros: Amazing picture quality, small size, durability, fast response time, face detection, and red-eye correction.
Cons: No internal memory, and no image stabilization.
The Bottom Line: I absolutely love this camera! Its size, features, and image quality all contribute to make it the best of its class.
Review: I have been a great lover of cameras and the sport of taking pictures since I was a kid. I have always loved going outside just to find those perfect pictures and still do. Though, in my search for those perfect pictures sometimes the perfect picture ...

Epinions Best value for money

by  wisechild,  Jan 4, 2008
Pros: easy to use, compact and light
Cons: night shots can be blurry and multiple shots in quick succession not possible
The Bottom Line: Best value for money on the market right now, and at the top of its class.
Review: If you can still find this camera on sale, it's got all the same features as the newer SD850 (except a slightly smaller LCD screen) but is much cheaper. Consumer reviews all had this camera at the top of their lists which means millions of consumers ...

Epinions Very good & good value too!

by  ht39,  Jun 10, 2007
Pros: Small, fast turn-on, easy to use, most default settings fine.
Cons: Making manual adjustments to exposure difficult
Review: One of the smallest ultracompacts available in US now (May/June 2007); very good value. Very easy to use (purchased as gift for spouse). I really like the fact that it still has an optical viewfinder (useful in bright outdoor settings). Most of ...

Epinions The best small camera

by  jkrishnan,  Sep 27, 2007
Pros: cant make a better body. the looks. 2.5 inch screen in such compact space
Cons: battery good, but panasonic fx01 was better, the (picture quality of fx01 was pathetic)
Review: Used it for about a week now. I have used more bulkier canons and sonys, and have decided that everywhere carryability is more important than some extra manual features. Ixus 70 has a lot of manual features, though. The picture is very good. I compared ...

Epinions Awesome quality compact

by  adinham,  Oct 9, 2007
Pros: Speed, quality of colours and sharpness, hardly any purple fringing.
Cons: Lack of manual control over aperture and shutter speed.
Review: This compact has to be one of the best I have ever had. Blows away the competition with crisp colours, little purple fringing and good speed. Another well-thought through, well-made, Canon ...

Epinions Great Camera

by  tampagirl10,  Dec 27, 2007
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
Review: I brought this camera for our family for Christmas. Our 1st digital camera. I had a 35mm Nikon 1000 which was 20 years old but a little to heavy to carry around. This camera takes great clear crisp pictures. A lot of functions for the price. What is ...

Epinions Love this camera

by  bernie157,  Feb 19, 2008
Pros: Compact, great pictures, many features, has a viewfinder (many do not), great battery life.
Cons: Menus, functions more complicated than I would prefer.
Review: I bought this to replace a Canon A520 which was REALLY SLOW to get ready for the next shot whether using flash or not. Uses proprietary battery rather than AAs like other Canons but so far so good. I set it to several notches lower than the default 7.1 ...
